To celebrate International Women’s Day 2025 (Saturday 8th March) we’re broadcasting a full day of fine female broadcasting. That’s right from 7am-1am Radio Venus are taking over the airwaves! You can find the full schedule for the day below and, after the day, you’ll be able to listen back.

 

7-8am Women In Music – Di Ives, Val Turner
Start the day with Val and Di for an inspiring feast of women’s music, featuring  influential women –  all the way from Amy to Ella.

 

8-9am Live from IWD City – Jenny Keane, Goodie Okenchukwu
Share the experience with a Live recording from Friday’s  IWD event at Bradford CIty Hall

 

9-11am Venus – Late Breakfast – Maria Spadafora, Mercy Katola
Share your Saturday breakfast with Mercy and Maria,  for a host of fine female guests and some awesome tunes!

 

11-11:30am Belles on Bikes – Sarah, Katie and Anne
Time to get on your bike with the women from the Bingley Belles cycling group.

 

11.30-12pm Women Write Now – Sally Cooper
Join Sally Cooper as she talks to local women writers, and finds out  just  how they manage to get their words onto the page!  Guests include Joolz Denby, Serish Hussain, and Haworth bookshop owner Diane Parks.

 

12-1pm Venus Roundtable – Goodie Okenchukwu
Goodie Okechukwu hosts a Lively – IWD discussion with three women guests.

 

1 -2pm Ukranian  Women – Maria D, Maria F
Share a woman’s view of life,  from Bradfords Ukrainian community,  with the two Marias – Maria D and Maria F!

 

2-4pm Venus and Beyond – Shamim Akhtar, Jenny Zig Zag
Shamim and Jenny host an afternoon of special guests dropping into the studio and sharing their worlds with us.

 

4-4.30pm Latvian Movers and Shakers – Mary Dowson
Join Mary Dowson, talking  to women from the Kamalans dance group as they learn their steps for the Latvian European Cultural Festival  – to be held in Bradford in July.

 

4.30-5pm Instincts – Uzma Kazi, Shamim Akhtar and Amria
Join Uzma Kazi and her guests Shamim and Amria as they do a deep- dive exploration of a feeling we can all relate to.

 

5-6pm Angie C’s Musical Adventure – Angie Carrington
Go on the musical journey of a lifetime with Bradford’s one and only Angie C

 

6-6.30pm Senior Moments – Tina Watkin, Marilyn Adey
Tina Watkins and Marylin Adey discuss the positive benefits of singing in a choir.

 

6.30-7pm Women in CICs – Elle Palmer
Elle Palmer and her guests Tanu and Andrea take us through their experiences of setting up aCommunity Interest Company.

 

7-8pm One to One – Carole Moss
Carole Moss chats to the women who make Bradford tick for International Women’s Day 2025. Today’s guest is Anj Handa

 

8-9pm Floors Fillers – Mercy Katola
Take to the floor with Mercy Katola as she plays all your favourite dancing tunes.

 

9-10pm YardFest: Her Orange Coat IWD Special – Nan Brimble, Georgia
Nan Brimble is joined  by Georgia , better known as Her Orange Coat,  as they play a powerful selection of music from some of the city’s most exciting female and nonbinary artists.

 

10-11pm Women In Reggae Music – Doreen Malcolm
Settle in with Doreen Malcolm as she highlights the very best of women in reggae music.

 

11pm-12am Sisters of Soul – Maureen and Sandra Rowe
BCB’s Sisters of Soul, Maureen and Sandra Rowe, play their inimitable choice of musical treats.

 

12-1am Lesser Heard Hits – Kierston Hunt
