Eclectic Mainline 19th June 2013

As regular listeners to Eclectic Mainline will know, I can’t keep up with all the music downloads that get sent my way and far prefer a 5″ shiny disc, or even better a 7″ or 12″ black disc, or…even better…. a 7″ orange disc. Which is precisely what landed in the postpile a couple of weeks ago from Affairs Of The Heart Records, the new single by The Elwins:

The Elwins - Forgetful Assistance 7" orange vinyl

That’s how it looks, and this is how it sounds. (Affairs Of The Heart have chosen not to enable embedding of the song, so you will have to click through to hear it I’m afraid).

Also in the show tonight was this by COH:

…and two songs from the 2012 Guided By Voices album Class Clown Spots a UFO, including this one:

You will find the full show available to listen again on this page.  Here is the playlist:

I’ve just head the sad news that Darren Maude has died.

He was best know as a member of the Bradford  band Architect, who had quite a bit of success in the early 1990s, touring with Big Country and Dr & The Medics.

There are tributes to him on his Facebook page:
