Matters relating to Laura Rawlings’ BCB show, entitled The BCB Session, broadcast on Wednesdays at 9pm (UK time).

Mountain Man BCB session

I said it at the time, and I’ll say it again. The Mountain Man session we had recently at BCB is one of the most beautiful sessions I’ve had the pleasure of being involved in.  You can hear it again here now.

Mountain Man, BCB session guests 2010

Mountain Man at BCB, posing as cats!

I would like to find time to put all our sessions up on the blog for you to listen to again, but the reality is I don’t have time.  Others I have put up here in 2010 are The Duke & The King and Lawrence Arabia.  When I get time, I’ll put more up here too.

The BCB Sessions – Wed 6 October

Hi folks,

Another tasty serving for you – bigger and better than your average portion! Feeling like a very happy bun today because we’ve had Sparrow and the Workshop in to record a session and it went really well. They’re a lovely, lovely band and I can’t wait to bring you their tunes on a soft velvet cushion in the next week or two.  Thanks Alb for mixing the songs (…tune into Eclectic Mainline if you haven’t already dipped your toe in, Weds at 8pm).

BCB music shows web 1.0 and web 2.0

In the BUN era (see Untitled Noise 1 year on) our music shows’ individual websites and web 2.0 presence was the only way find out what we were all up to, and it was not easy to keep up to date with all shows.  In the SUN era this blog has brought things together nicely in a hub, but our original tentacles still spread healthily.  So I thought it would be a good idea to fill you in on what we have out there on the internet.   Here’s what I know of, starting with general BCB stuff, then working through the week (I may modify this entry if and when I get more information):

Wednesday 4th August – le playlist

Greetings,

I’m back from WOMAD…had a fantastic time and totally recommend going. It’s got a really great atmosphere, very chilled, love the mix of dance, arts and music and continually discovering new stuff. I’m just putting together a WOMAD show, featuring music from some of my favourite acts. I tried to buy tunes while I was there but so did a million other people so I’m not sure when it’ll be broadcast but I’ll give you some warning!

Onwards to Wednesday night’s show (4th Aug), here’s what’s taking my fancy:

Jelly & Ice Cream: Selection Box 142

In keeping with advancing years, the party for Selection Box’s third birthday turned out to be a rather more low-key affair than the wild cake, balloon and full studio of previous years.  Although your host was able to treat himself to a tasty off-cut of a choccy caterpillar cake this was actually provided by someone else for celebratory purposes the nature of which I am not aware.  It was just a coincidence that it happened to be sat there on the same day as my show’s anniversary, but as it was sat there waiting to be sliced asunder by all comers I helped myself to one of the last pieces before heading into the studio.
