Get into the Olympic spirit

We’re inviting listeners to suggest Olympic-themed tracks to play in a Bradford Beat special ahead of London 2012.

Anything to do with torches, medals, podiums, jumping and throwing is the kind of idea we’re after. So far, submissions include Relay by The Who and Running Up That Hill by Kate Bush.

First news of Bingley Music Live 2012 reaches us this week.

The first batch of bands announced includes Hard-Fi, Pigeon Detectives and The Charlatans – all of whom feature in this weeks’ edition of Bradford Beat.

The event is at Myrtle Park in Bingley on August 31, Sept 1 and 2.

Thanks to Sound Shack for sending some interesting CDs to Bradford Beat, which I’ll be trying to play in the coming weeks – including Dooj and Jed’s Blues Band.

They’re promoting  a series of monthly gigs at Kirkgate Centre in Shipley which fans of live music should try to support.

The first is on Saturday March 24 and features reggae from Axis Sound System.
