When Big Joan Sets Up 19th September – Night Strypes

Eh up old flowers. This week’s thrill a minute gambol through the tunes of the times featured three tracks from “Snapshot” the debut LP from The Strypes who, despite the fact that they have been lauded by wearisome old codgers such as Paul Weller and Elton John, are tip top.

Added to that a 13 minute track by Body/Head whose performance at the ATP Festival was accompanied by a steady stream of people walking out confused and ashen faced (always a good sign).

Our Dub Selecter feature also leapt back into action this week with the aid of a specially designed headband that enhanced it’s performance while simultaneously making it look like a twat. Our humble thanks are due to John Toolan for picking a belter for us this week.

Mangle – “Bile Caster” (Split 7″ with Bite Down) (Bones Brigade)
Dreadzone – “Roosevelt High” (LP – “Escapades”) (Dubwiser)
Herman Dune – “Escape To The Moon” (LP – “Marriage A Mendoza”) (Strange Moosic)
Laurie Anderson “O Superman” (LP – “Big Science”) (Warners)
The Strypes – “She’s So Fine” (LP – “Snapshot”) (Virgin EMI)
The Strypes – “Perfect Storm” (LP – “Snapshot”) (Virgin EMI)
The Strypes – “Rollin’ and Tumblin'” (LP – “Snapshot”) (Virgin EMI)
Beau Wanzer – “Balls Of Steel” (12″) (L.I.E.S.)
Tapper Zukie – “Rush I Some Dub” (LP – “Tapper Zukie In Dub”) (Blood and Fire)
