Compared To What – we’ve played this before and doubtless we’ll play it again, meanwhile here’s the film of the performance.. funkabulously jazztastic, filmed in 1969 with pianist Les McCann and saxophonist Eddie Harris live at the Montreux Jazz Festival.

This week I have mostly been.. watching Nurse Jackie online.

Series 2 is on Saturday night on BBC2 in the UK, and stars Edie Falco, who was Carmella (Mrs Tony) Soprano.

LMDOB was released in 1970 as the follow up to Troutmask Replica and according to Wikipedia reached 20 in the UK album charts, due to John Peel plays.

“Most of the songs began as piano improvisations by Van Vliet. He would record extended improvisation sessions on a cassette recorder. Harkleroad [guitarist Bill, aka Zoot Horn Rollo] then listened to these improvisations, picked out the best parts, and pieced them into compositions.”

I SO wanted to be the Lone Ranger when i was about 8. I used to gallop home from school for dinner with my raincoat draped like a cloak.
