Sizzling summer events planned for City Park

05/11/2012

City Park is set to host an action-packed summer with more than a dozen free events taking place in Bradford’s new high-quality public space.

Highlights include a giant picnic to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, the arrival of the Olympic Torch Relay and the Bradford Classic car show.

On Saturday, 19 May, City Park will play host to the Lord’s Mayor Carnival Parade which will see more than 1,000 people in costume making their way through the city, along with floats and giant fibreglass Corgis in honour of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

Bradford Pride, the annual event staged by local lesbian, gay, bi-sexual and transgender communities, takes place on Saturday, May 26.

On Friday, 1 June, a global food event will be held in City Park, two days before the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Big Lunch when street theatre and live music from the 1950s, 70s and 90s will entertain crowds celebrating the 60-year reign of Queen Elizabeth II.
